This album, Dark Ages, is surprisingly upbeat, although the songs pull no punches in terms of the times in which we find ourselves. Working in collaboration with Don Richmond, her producer/multi-instrumentalist for the last two records, and calling on some of her Austin compadres and fellow New Mexicans to accompany her, the album showcases Eliza in her strongest and most compelling voice. She remains true to the convictions and sensibilities for which she is known, covering the wide range of human experience, following the threads of darkness and light, reminding us of the hope and beauty still to be found even in the frightening scenarios of today’s current events.

"I think we collectively plunged into a dark place with these election results, and I am reminded of the historical "Dark Ages" when culture and consciousness were supposedly in decline. Historians are recently more inclined to say that it was a time of collective regrouping from which new thought was born over time. It may be the same for us now. Let's hope we emerge from this current dark time with new ideas about how to repair our systems and go forward into the creation of a better world. We simply must pull ourselves together and stay sentient and useful so that we are prepared and capable of handling the present and imagining the future. I hope "Dark Ages" reflects my commitment to holding that vision and inspires others to do the same." - Eliza
